The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) seeks to enrich the lives of Canadian children and teens by helping improve the quality of the content created for them on all screen-based media whether on television, in series, in film, on the web, in podcasts or interactive games. The Alliance pursues its mission of encouraging high-quality content by presenting annual awards of excellence to the best productions targeting young English- and French-speaking Canadians, and emerging talent by awarding scholarships. It is a charitable non-profit national organization dedicated to promoting quality content for children and youth across diverse media. Working in a youth industry of over 33,500 professionals, YMA, with its 160 members - 82 broadcasters and production companies and 78 individuals, and covering a diversity of communities across Canada - strives to ensure that Canadian youth have access to enriching and entertaining content on all platforms. YMA is a pioneer in promoting inclusive and diverse content..

The Youth Media Alliance welcomes the launch of Radio-Canada and CBC's digital youth channels

Montreal, October 28, 2025 – The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) is delighted by the launch, by Radio-Canada, of two new continuous digital streaming channels dedicated to young audiences: the “Jeunesse” channel and the “L’Agent Jean!” channel, now available free of charge and ad-free on ICI TOU.TV; and by CBC’s launch of a new ad-free CBC Kids streaming channel, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, now accessible on CBC Gem and the CBC Kids YouTube channel.

Meeting with Senator Tony Ince

Ottawa, Sept 2025 - Some YMA Board members spent time with Senator Tony Ince and his team to put into context the decline of Canadian Children’s content was a privilege. Today’s Canadian kids deserve to grow up with their own stories too. For those of us who were raised on Mr. Dressup, Magic School Bus, Big Comfy Couch, Franklin, Babar, Degrassi, 6TEEN and dozens more, we need to continue to demand the same for our kids.

Toronto, May 28, 2025 – The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) unveiled the winners of the 2025 Awards of Excellence at a touching and hilarious gala held in Toronto at the famous Glenn Gould Studios. The event was hosted by Angela Son and Taran Kim from The Gangnam Project, and scripted by Daniel Fernandes. The YMA celebrates the best in Canadian media production for children and youth. 18 awards and 1 tribute were awarded during the evening
