Montreal, November 7, 2024 – YMA was pleased to present its conference on children, youth and the media, held on November 5 and 6 at the PHI Centre in Montreal - a one-day event followed the next day by the presentation of the YMA PRIX JEUNESSE from the Munich PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL.

We were delighted to welcome over a hundred people to our two-day face-to-face event. 36 speakers, panelists and moderators covering the hottest topics in the news, including :  

• Artificial intelligence combined with threats and opportunities  
• Reaching today's youth audience  
• Challenging different creative spheres to speak to teens - Being Teen: A case study   
• Seizing social networking opportunities for a youth audience?  
• Should we think in terms of properties or programs (content)?   
• And Socio-economic inclusion essential to diversity, equity and inclusion  

The conference is a forum for the exchange of ideas, training and development for young screen media professionals in Canada. This unique event, featuring leading experts, addresses programming trends and provides a better understanding of young people's needs and interests.  

In conjunction with the conference, the winner of the YMA 2025 Andra Sheffer Scholarship was announced - Sara Khalil-Bayley of Metropolitan Toronto University, who is now able to gain industry exposure by attending the upcoming Kidscreen Summit 2025 in San Diego (CA) and the World Media Festival 2025 in Banff, Alberta, receive a $4,000 scholarship from YMA, as well as mentoring throughout the year. 

The YMA AGM was held and a new Board of Directors elected. Finally, YMA's Prix Jeunesse is now available online, until December 31, to showcase material from the Prix d'Excellence 2024 and the Prix Jeunesse International 2024 in Munich.   

The conference was a great opportunity to learn and build relationships for all and join forces to share our stories.
