Montreal, December 18, 2023 - The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) announces the call for entries for the 2024 French-Language Awards of Excellence,which will recognize the best French-language youth productions produced in Canada over the past two years. Entries must be received no later than 6 p.m. on February 9, 2024.

A total of seventeen prizes will be awarded, including three prizes awarded by the public. These prizes will be awarded by a jury of children from different age groups in collaboration with their parents. The Awards of Excellence categories reflect the YMA values and are reviewed annually by an advisory committee of industry professionals. Moreover, 10 honorable prizes will be awarded to celebrate our 50th anniversary.

Television and web series are grouped together in six sub-categories:

• Acquisition of knowledge and critical thinking skills (shorter than 20 minutes)
• Acquisition of knowledge and critical thinking skills (longer than 20 minutes)
• Stimulation of imagination and creativity
• Commitment, openness, and respect
• Advancement of personal growth and transcendence
• Emancipation through games and humour

The Awards of Excellence for Best Interactive Content will be given to outstanding productions in the three sub-categories below:

• Acquisition of knowledge and critical thinking skills
• Stimulation of imagination and creativity
• Commitment, openness and respect

The YMA will present the Award of Excellence for Youth Personality to a person (or group) in recognition of the inspiration they provide for young people, and for their uniqueness, audacity, outstanding achievements, well-researched content, approach, and outreach across all media types including social media. The winner’s audience impact must be well-known and positive, and the content must be rich and reflective of the YMA values.

An award for best podcast as well as an award for Inclusion, openness, and commitment will be given to projects that represents and value diversity in an exceptional way, both in front of and behind the camera. The jury will select the winner out of all projects submitted across categories.

The contest is open to all Canadian-made youth productions originally released in French between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023. The gala will be held in May 2024 in Montreal.
