For 50 years, The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) has worked to enrich the lives of Canadian children and teens by helping to improve the content available to them on all screens. YMA pursues its mission to promote the highest quality content by annually recognizing the best in Canadian English- and French-language children's and youth programming through its Awards of Excellence. The Youth Media Alliance offers continuing professional development opportunities through its annual conference, as well as networking opportunities and scholarships for youth production professionals. Finally, the Youth Media Alliance lobbies governments and seeks to raise awareness of issues affecting screen-based production for Canadian youth.
The Youth Media Alliance is currently seeking a committed, creative, rigorous and versatile individual to fill the position of Director - Events, Communications and Development.
Main responsibilities:
Reporting to and working closely with the General Manager, the incumbent will combine the following responsibilities:
- Events :
- Realize and produce current and future annual events such as the Awards of Excellence Gala, Media-Jeunes and Children, Youth & Media conferences, networking and fundraising events such as bowling tournaments (or other activities) and participation in the Kidscreen Summit;
- Work these events with the respective advisory committees;
- Research event sponsors
- Budget tracking, event reporting, and other tasks
- Communications :
- Responsible for the organization's communications (press release writing, promotional campaign, press relations, event promotion, social network development;
- Maintenance of website, social networking platform and database
- Ensures communications with members and stakeholders
- Development :
- Manages scholarship competitions, promotion, submissions, judges/jurors committee analysis and follow-up;
- Develops, produces and implements networking and professional development activities
- Assists in the development of philanthropic activities, campaigns, gift management and donor relations
- File administration, clerical work.
Skills and qualifications required:
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar position involving event production, communications and philanthropy;
- Fluently bilingual - French and English (oral and written);
- University degree in communications, marketing, event organization or equivalent;
- Excellent knowledge of Windows environment - Excel and Word;
- Excellent writing skills in both French and English;
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
- Initiative and planning skills.
- Knowledge of the screen production industry (an asset) but optional;

Salary offered:
Between $65,000 and $80,000 depending on experience, plus three weeks' vacation.
Work location:
The candidate will be able to work face-to-face at the Montreal office (Vendôme metro station) or remotely from home in Montreal or Toronto, or on a hybrid basis. The candidate will be required to travel outside the company as part of his/her duties, mainly in Montreal, Toronto and San Diego.
